3-min | The story of Achooo…🤧 and biases

During our previous Kids Cafe - The Art of Storytelling, Yashika told a wonderful story called Achoo! This is a tale about the forest animals imagining how the sneeze of an elephant is.

Do you think an elephant's sneeze is louder or softer than a deer's sneeze? Do you think its stronger than a tiger's sneeze?

Well turns out that an elephant's sneeze is quite a whimper (or view here)!

In this edition, let's read and reflect on the Achooo story and the assumptions, biases and context that influence our parenting.

3-min | 📜 Storytelling

Storytelling is a powerful skill and mechanism with which we as parents and educators can connect with our children, communicate ideas, empower them with the toolkit of imagination and cognitive thinking, and strengthen our relationship.

Yashika Chandna introduced this concept in our last Kids Cafe, and the manual of storytelling is now available for download here.

In this edition, let's read and reflect on the power of storytelling.

3-min | 🌺Remembrance from a child’s lens

Veterans want Canadians to understand the price of freedom. They are passing the torch to the people of Canada, so the memory of their sacrifices will continue, and the values they fought for will live on in all of us.

As parents and educators, let's remember our veterans, their sacrifices, their will and collective hope for a prosperous Canada and world. We remember, thank, and honour them.

Time to read and reflect in this edition of Kul Thoughts showcasing ideas inspired by children lesson plans from Veteran's Affairs Canada.

3-min | Ready for Action 🏁

The average person gained between 15% to 20% in weight during the pandemic. The main culprit for weight gain was that fitness centres were closed. In addition, very few people admitted to their increased spending on delivery food.

Solutions that could have easily been exercised are going for walks, bike riding, and home-cooking.

As parents and educators, we are preparing and hopefully demonstrating to our children and young learners to take control of situations, and thus take action.
